Fivepenny Piece
BDA
BDLP 001
Release
Date: ?? early 1980s
This
album is undated but I would guess it was made
in the early 1980s (possibly 1982?). Although
in the same vein as previous albums, there was
a little less emphasis on the humour and more
on the pop, with the inclusion of covers of
Sometimes When We Touch and The Twelfth
Of Never. Nevertheless, there are some humorous
numbers such as Four Bare Legs In A Bed
and Wine, Women & Song, as well as
new versions of Mountain Climber and
Big Jim to keep the fans happy.
The band personnel had changed by this time
- Lynda Meeks had followed her brother
John and left the group, being replaced by Andrea
Mullins, a former member of the 1960s girl
duo The Caravelles, who in 1963 had a
Top 10 hit on both sides of the Atlantic with
You Don't Have To Be A Baby To Cry.
