The Fivepenny Piece In The Charts

For all their high profile on TV, The Fivepenny Piece never really achieved much in the way of chart success. None of their singles charted at all, and only two of their albums reached the album charts. In saying that, King Cotton did managed to break into the Top 10 of the UK Albums charts, this is no mean feat.

I have gleaned the definitive statistics from the excellent chartstats.com website:

Making Tracks The Fivepenny Piece's second album charted in 24th March 1973 at #37, and dropped straight out the week after.
King Cotton First charted in 3rd September 1976 at #27, It climbed up to #9 the following week but this was as high as it reached dropping to #22 the week after. King Cotton stayed in the album charts for 5 weeks in all.
